My sister had some of her own child drama today and all I can say is I am happy not to be in her shoes! It seems to be nowhere you go can you escape the drama of life. I am still trying to convince my husband a little town in Rhode Island is calling our name!
I had a headache that wouldn’t go away so I snuck in a few hour nap. Although now I will have a hard time falling asleep tonight, but the nap took the headache away!
I have been working on my snow queen blanket and the family tree today. My sister found a binder with a ton of her family tree information on her father’s side. I am swimming in a ton of family tree information. I am hoping to come up with a game plan to share some of this information on my blog.
I have to go this weekend to get a new camera lens for my camera, the old one quit working. I already got a request to do senior photos. Just working out the details for this.
Also working out details to do the dinner and theater at the local high school. Looking forward to a good night out.
Hope everyone had a good day!

I hope you are all having a great weekend!!
I finished adding all the members from A Brief History of the William Alden and Anna Eddy Hawkins Family Who Came From Indiana to Texas in 1848 book. Now I am going back and making sure the dates and names are correct. I am finding a lot of errors but it was a great start and gave me lots of information and stories I wouldn’t have had. Lots of TWINS which makes me happy I am done with having babies!!!
Yesterday my cousin came in for a few hours, and I haven’t seen him since he was a kid. So we headed to my Aunts house and then as a family we all went to the state fair. It was my son’s first time at the fair and he loved it. My hurt foot didn’t love it so much. It was a 3 pain pill kind of a day (usually I can get by with 0-1). We ended the day with pizza at my Aunts house and then headed home. I finished Bones and then let my son rule the TV till bedtime.
Sorry I am a day late getting this post out. It was a crazy day since I had my son by myself and still had to work.
My husband took my dad to the VA Hospital in Houston. They pulled wood, grass, and etc out of his ear. Said his ear drum was completely gone. They are going to see how he is doing in a week and do a cat scan. They said the next step was probably surgery where he would have to do a skin graft and get screws put in his ears.
They told him he would not be able to drive for another 4-8 months. Which puts a cramp on us moving again.
What’s in the Mail:
I got in 1 of 2 Styrofoam pieces for my daughters money cake. I also got in my row counter to make crocheting so much easier! My new head phones came in too. I am happy about those!
Family Tree Book:
Trying to do the family tree book for my daughter for graduation was becoming a bit overwhelming. So I decided to break it down into smaller books. I just need to finish the family group sheets and the first book which will include the first 5 generations on both sides will be done. I figure that takes the stress off of me and then I can start focusing on making other books.
Since my son’s incident with my Aunt’s family tree information, I have become full blown family tree mode. I think I finally have a method I like and I am going to give it a few days longer to see how it works out.
I restarted the family tree and started adding the information from the book ” A Brief History of The William Alden and Anna Eddy Hawkins Family” to it. I have to say I am disappointed with how much I found to be inaccurate, but it did give me a great starting place.
At the moment I have 483 people added. I put these people into a spreadsheet and they are going to be my number 1 focus. I plan on going through them one by one and working all the hints for them. Once that is done I will reevaluate how to go further.
I also started a new family tree folder and currently have these folders:
Birth Certificates: Saved by Name
Birth Index: Saved by Name
Census: Saved by Name and Year
Death Certificates: Saved by Name
Death Index: Saved By Name
Departures: Saved by Name and Year
Marriage Certificates: Saved by Husbands Name and Wife’s Name
Military Documents: Saved by Name and Document Name
Photos: Saved by Name, Name Tombstone, Name Yearbook
US City Directories: Saved By Name and Year
I am looking forward to making some progress!
Do you have any tips or secrets for creating your family tree?
My son ruined pages from the family tree information I borrowed from my Aunt. So I spent all day downloading all 75 pages (page by page), printing them out, and binding them. I then in a state of frustration erased yet again the Family Tree I started and began again. I am first adding the information from the book ” A Brief History of The William Alden and Anna Eddy Hawkins Family” and getting supporting evidence. The book is not very accurate on dates! I feel like I have a good plan of action this time around and I am ready to put a dent into the family tree.
What’s in the Mail?
I received two boxes with the 4 pillows I ordered. I refuse to take them out of the box till I receive the rest of the items. It would be nice if the rest came in early!
I have a secret addiction to budgeting. I don’t know if it was because I seen my mom do it with pen and paper all the time growing up. I tried to do the whole pen and paper thing, but it just doesn’t work out for me. I am extremely obsessed with doing it on spreadsheets. I have pages and pages that I link all together and I am constantly trying to figure out how to make a dollar stretch into 10 and how to get the bills paid off faster. Anyone else share this addiction?
Walmart had a tablet on sale for $25. So we thought it was a good time to go ahead and buy our son his first tablet. I started downloading all his favorite apps to it last night and a few I wanted him to try. Before I could finish he passed out, lucky me!! So I will have to wait till he wakes up today to see if he likes it.
I borrowed my Aunt’s family tree information so I could use it to start the family tree. I promised to take good care of it. I had every intention of taking good care of it, but I forgot to factor in a destructive 3 year old. I had a spray bottle on my desk and when I left the room he soaked part of the family tree information. (He is so lucky I didn’t realize it until the next morning!!!!) So now I have to try to find the information so I can reprint it for my Aunt before I tell her what happened!! I think my family is sending me to crazy town!!
Family Tree: I am starting to get some organization to the family tree books. I wanted to share it on my blog since it is a huge time consuming project. Trying to update per post was getting to much so I decided to make pages. If you are interested you can click here for the books I am actively working. Each book links to chapters.
WISH: I received another item on Wish. It was 10 rolls of tape, mostly Paris theme. It kind of makes me want my daughter to choose a Paris theme for the baby’s room if it is a girl! I was hoping my crochet hooks would come in, but it is nice to get packages periodically!
Health: Tomorrow I go to the doctor to see if I can get out of the walking boot. Hopefully he says it is ok and that I can get back into the gym. I have a lot of excess weight I need to shed as soon as possible.
Facebook Pay It Forward: I want to put together 5 gift baskets. I am brainstorming what all I want to go in it. I am thinking a mixture of crochet and baked good items. I haven’t mailed baked goods through the mail before and not sure what is good to send. If you have good suggestions on what holds good through the mail please let me know.
WIP: Finished another block of my daughters graduation afghan. It is the drill team boots and hat. She did it for a year in high school. I couldn’t find a pattern and with the curves didn’t fill like trying to do the graph thing, so I decided to embroidery it. I thought it came out ok. I realized I still have a ton of work to do, going to have to start working a bit faster on it!
Family Tree: Worked more on my family tree today. I have over 9,000 hints to work through. The more I find the more there is, but that is a good thing!
TV Series: On Season 3 Episode 19 of Criminal minds.
House Work: Put some dishes away and then quickly got tired of doing house work! Ugg there is always tomorrow!
Health: I think I caught a stomach bug from my son. His went away within 48 hours so I am hoping mine will be gone by Monday. Thursday I go in for a doctor’s appointment and for my daughter’s first baby doctor visit. Hopefully I will get out of my boot and her appointment will go great!
Craft: I have about 10 more rows and the outline to finish my daughters next block to her afghan. Hopefully I will get the pictures of it taken and the pattern up tonight. If not it will definitely be posted tomorrow. My husband’s niece found out recently she is pregnant too, so her theme for the baby if it is a girl will be sugar skulls. So I will be getting yarn and will start on making things for her theme. I figure if she ends up having a boy I will just sell the items I make for her.
Family Tree: Posted a status here and I realized how much I still need to do for the 1st chapter of each of the 1st books. I’ll work more on it tomorrow but happy with the results from today.
TV Series: I am on Season 3 of 11 of Criminal Minds. Since I slept till 9am this morning, I am sure I will get several episodes watched tonight!
Hope you had a great Saturday!
