My latest project has been crochet heart pouches. I started selling them for $3 each. I thought these were perfect for Valentine’s day. They are pretty simple to crochet up and look really cute.
A guy I went to high school with planned out a awesome proposal for Christmas day. Unfortunately a fire took out the barn where he was storing the lights and other decorations for it. With help from his friends and family he was able to pull off the proposal and ended up doing it Christmas eve. I wanted to help them start up their collection of memories and so I made an engagement throw.
My aunt had an old crochet pattern my grandmother had written on a piece of paper and had a sample of a pot holder she had. I didn’t have any cotton yarn on hand so I made the dish soap cover instead. They are extremely easy to make and I crocheted a few up really fast. I plan on selling them for $5 each at the fall festival in town.
He came home with another bad comment (disturbing other kids at nap time). I am starting to feel like a broken record with him. I figured since he started the day off bad he would have a comment, but thought it would be original.
My sister is a big supporter of the animals in town. She fosters animals until they find new homes and she has several herself. She is doing a big fundraiser next month to get food/blankets etc. So to assist her I am going to make t-shirt rugs. (My husband doesn’t know he is fixing to lose a bunch of t-shirts). I have asked people in town to donate there tshirts to the cause (so I don’t have to go buy more). Would be great if I could get a few done each month. Have you made t-shirt yarn rugs?
This was homecoming week and my son was able to dress up for most of it. Monday – Pjs, Tuesday – Disney, Wednesday – college football, Thursday – Tacky tourist, Tomorrow is Red out (school colors). I decided he could wait till the football game to wear his boutonniere. I did not want it to distract him at school. At 3pm their is a pep rally at the center of town, 5pm is the FFA bbq and then the game at 7:30pm. I am excited!!
I found a new app called Influenster. It is where you post reviews on products and get a chance to win boxes full of items to try. I hate buying new products in case I don’t like them, so hoping I will get a box to try out. I am up to 4 badges so far. Crossing fingers and toes! Have you received a box?
Yesterday we received the couch and dining set. I have been working hard to get the house in order. One wall of the dining room is full of garage sell items. I look around the house and think, oh I am almost done, just a few hours of work left. Then my husband brings in more items from the garage and I think oh man how did I let my life get so cluttered!! I still have items at my Aunt’s house I need to get moved down here.
I am up to 2 baskets bought from dirt cheap, totaling $20. I have sold $14 worth of items that I did not want. I gave my sister a big black trash bag full of items I didn’t want that she wanted. I still have items that I have marked for garage sell/Halloween giveaways. I decided that starting next month I wanted to share my crazy find with my blog followers (I am still getting together how I want to run that give away so look for that post on Oct. 1). If I add up the rest of the items (over 200) I paid .03 cents or less for it. The items I kept were notepads, gift tags, stickers, iron on patches, make up, tons of toys (for stocking stuffers) and so much more. I do plan to do some stocking giveaways in town to those in need.
Tonight I finished a few more rows on the snow queen blanket. I am going to have to stop working on it long enough to get the graduation blanket done. That is my goal tomorrow to make a big dent in the graduation blanket.
My sister and the neighbor across the street have been having issues with their teenage daughters. I am sitting back shaking my head and thanking God it isn’t my drama to deal with!
Starting tomorrow I am going to start my journey on getting healthier! I am going to do a daily blog post about it. I am going to share with you my weight, food, and exercise. For the first week I am mostly going to work on the food journal. I still have the injured foot so will have to do research on exercises I can do to deal with it. Hopefully find things I can include my 3 year old son in.
I hope everyone had an awesome day and looking forward to the new journey I am fixing to start on!
Things have been calming down here a bit and so I am going to attempt to do a Journal Update once a day and hopefully soon start adding other post. I am trying to focus on getting the two big crochet projects done and that way I can focus on other things without stressing about those being left undone.
My son is a spoiled kid, my sister just bought him a ton of things from the dollar store. Some was on sale for real cheap and some weren’t. I told my sister she needs to only buy the items on sale so she isn’t spending a ton of money.
Currently we are living with my sister. We were going to rent a house up here, but we had to put it on hold. Dad has his heart set on the 17 1/2 acres in South Texas and says he may need help with the house payments. If he gets it then we will be moving to South Texas with him, if he doesn’t then we will go ahead and rent the house up here.
I talked to my dad this weekend and he has agreed to cosign on a car with me. I am hoping I will be able to apply for the loan and get a car on Friday or Saturday at the latest! It will be nice to be able to have a vehicle again. We have been waiting forever to get one because of the driveway drama, but now that we don’t have to worry about that we can work on getting one!
Snow Queen Blanket: I am slightly over the halfway mark to finishing this blanket. I just work on it a little bit every night.
Daughter’s Graduation Blanket: I have decided the rest of the blocks I am going to make plain and then add some appliques to them. I am hoping that will assist in getting it done faster but still look good. Once I get the blank blocks finished I will show yall an updated picture of it.
What I am Watching:
I just finished watching The Finder today. It was a pretty good show, but only had one season. Want to see what else I have been watching then please click here.
I really love the crochet dreamcatchers I see and wanted to give one a try. I had some old drapery hoops and thought they would be perfect as a dreamcatcher. So I wrapped the hoop with embroidery floss and crocheted the inside. I couldn’t find a pattern to fit so I just made it up as I went along.
I did find a pattern for the feathers and I love the way they turned out. You can find the feather pattern here. I used embroidery floss and a 3.0 crochet hook. I think it turned out great for my project.
What do you think? I wanted to get some bigger hoops and try my hand out on some larger ones.
I am thinking about trying out some crochet dreamcatchers. Have you tried them? If so which pattern do you like the best? Would love some links and photos!
My office/son’s play area is clean (really should go through more craft items but saving that for when it is all gathered up in the same place). I also finished most of the laundry. I am hoping I will finish it tomorrow.
